Marlowe and ACTUS

Updated: Sep 29, 2020

Speakers:

Simon Thompson, senior research lead at IOHK, with a track record of teaching and research in functional programming at the University of Kent, UK. He is the author of standard texts on Haskell and Erlang, a series of MOOCs in Erlang, and over a hundred research papers.

Dmytro Kondratiuk, Financial Contract Engineer at IOHK.

Abstract:

Marlowe is a language for defining financial smart contracts, running on Cardano and, potentially, other blockchains. In the first talk Simon described the rationale and high-level design of Marlowe, and in the second Dmytro described how ACTUS contracts can be implemented using Marlowe. There was also demonstrated how Marlowe works in the browser-based Marlowe Playground.
